Once summer arrives, here’s exciting news for travelers eager to witness the breathtaking views of Babusar Top covered in snow. According to recent reports, the scenic Babusar road, a popular tourist route in Pakistan, has reopened for light traffic after a seven-month closure due to heavy snowfall.

The Deputy Commissioner of Diamer, Fayyaz Ahmad, announced the reopening with specific restrictions in place to ensure safety. Vehicles are permitted to travel on Babusar road from both the Khyber Pakhtun (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan sides, but only between 5 am and 5 pm daily until Eid-ul-Azha. This limited timeframe is due to the risk of snowmelt during the day and potential refreezing at night.

Travelers are advised to exercise caution and adhere strictly to advisories issued by the Meteorological Department. Checking weather conditions before planning a trip on Babusar road is strongly recommended.

The reopening of Babusar road is welcomed as it provides a scenic route between Diamer and Mansehra. Compared to the Karakoram Highway, which takes approximately 14 hours for the same journey, Babusar road offers a quicker option (around 7 hours) with stunning views.

Earlier in October 2023, local authorities took proactive steps to close the pass earlier than usual due to heavy snowfall, underscoring the challenges posed by harsh winter conditions in this spectacular region. Normally, the pass remains closed for about eight months from November to June.
